The pipe that failed is one of the largest pipes in the city's water distribution system, officials wrote in the post. About 80% of Lewisville water customers were affected. The failure also prompted Lewisville ISD to cancel Monday classes.

Water service was restored to customers, but officials said the system needed to be flushed and water quality tested before the boil water notice could be lifted.
Though the water is safe again for consumption, city officials are urging affected customers to flush their home or business water systems. For more information on how to flush water systems, visit the city's website.
