Atlantic City library to temporarily close as water repairs continue

ATLANTIC CITY -- The Atlantic City Free Public Library on 1 N. Tennessee Avenue will temporarily close beginning Monday due to the continuation of its water emergency project.

New flooring is being installed in phases throughout the library's first floor. In the next phase, moving and flooring crews will work in the central section of the floor, which includes the circulation desk, Tennessee Avenue and atrium entrances, women's bathrooms and the fiction, new book, urban fiction and graphic novels collections.

The library will be closed until completion of this phase, which is projected to last two to four weeks. All in-person classes at the library are canceled, but online programs will continue to be held.

In the mean time, to make services and resources more accessible, extended hours have been scheduled for the Richmond Branch Library (4115 Ventnor Ave.). Hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The water emergency project is the continuation of repairs dating to December 2022, when the library was closed for three weeks after sprinkler pipes burst, causing severe water damage to the first and second floors. Many of those repairs have since been made.
