'Lovely' coastal village two hours from Cambs that's perfect for an autumn walk

The beautiful Norfolk coast is a perfect place to go for walk this autumn. The colder months are here so people are having to wrap up a bit more if they are heading out on an autumnal walk.

If you're after a scenic walk surrounded by wildlife, then the Naional Trust's Blakeney Freshes coastal wildlife walk is the ideal route. Blakeney is around two hours from Cambridge and is famed for being one of the best places in Norfolk to spot some seals, especially during pupping season.

The best chance for visitors to try and see seals is by taking a boat trip from Morston Quay. From November, people might be able to spot newborn grey seals at Blakeney Point, which hosts England's largest grey seal colony. It is believed more than 4,000 seal pups are born each winter.

The Blakeney Freshes coastal wildlife walk is three miles long and is suitable for the whole family, including dogs. Starting at St Nicholas' Church, the walk takes around an hour and 45 minutes.

From the church, head into Blakeney village and turn right onto High Street. At the end of High Street you will come to the quaint Blakeney Quay. Next, cross the main car park and head for the bank on the right hand side. You should now be able to see Blakeney Freshers on your right. Follow this footpath on top of the bank down towards the harbour.

The footpath bends slightly round to the right, but continue to follow it. Make sure you keep an eye out for any wildlife as this area is known for being a haven for many different types of bird, including the golden plover and marsh harrier. Continue along the footpath beside the river and turn right slightly to start heading back inland.

Stay on the footpath on the bank until you reach the A149, the road which runs between Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea. Cross the road and turn right, heading up the hill. You will then need to cross the road again and stick to the pavement until you find yourself back at St Nicholas' Church.
