TOAVH Partners Silpakorn University on Green Materials

TOAVH Partners Silpakorn University on Green Materials

Building on its drive toward sustainability and environmental responsibility, TOA Venture Holding (TOAVH) has expanded its green innovation efforts through a new collaboration with Silpakorn University. The company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the university to support education, research and the development of natural-based alternative materials aimed at creating new environmentally friendly products.

The signing ceremony took place at Silpakorn University's Taling Chan campus, attended by TOAVH executives Mr Nattavuth Tangkaravakoon (3rd right), president; Mr Pisit Boonchanya (2nd right); and Mr Terdsak Surakitbovorn (right), alongside Professor Tanasait Ngawhirunpat (3rd left), PhD, president of Silpakorn University; Assistant Professor Dr Arunsri Leejeerajumnean (2nd left), dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology; and Associate Professor Arwin Intrungsi (left), dean of the Faculty of Decorative Arts. Senior representatives from both organisations were also present.

Under the partnership, TOAVH and Silpakorn University will jointly research and develop low-carbon composite materials using Polylactic Acid (PLA), a biodegradable bioplastic made from plants, and recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), a widely used recyclable plastic. The aim is to strengthen the physical properties of these materials while ensuring improved environmental performance.

The initiative supports the principles of the circular economy -- promoting efficient use, reuse and value retention of resources -- as well as the bioeconomy, which encourages the adoption of natural-based materials and green technologies to support long-term sustainable growth.

Mr Nattavuth said the collaboration marked a significant milestone for the company. "This partnership with Silpakorn University is a pivotal step for TOAVH in creating new knowledge and innovations in materials science," he said. "It paves the way for future commercial production, adding value to our company while contributing to the growth of Thailand's green economy in a balanced and sustainable manner."
