Bayero University Kano (BUK) was gripped by excitement as a three-day youth celebration concluded with a life-changing moment for Ramatu Yakubu, a 300-level Agriculture student, who won a brand new 2025 Changan Alsvin car valued at N35 million at an event by MTN.

The gift drew cheers and applause that echoed across the campus as friends and classmates surrounded her in disbelief and joy.

The prize presentation formed the climax of the MTN GoMAD Campus Invasion, which turned BUK into an arena of music, games, digital showcases, and student competitions.

The event rewarded participants with tablets, laptops, smartphones, and cash prizes, but the car stood out as the most anticipated reward.

Students who witnessed the moment said the atmosphere shifted instantly the moment Yakubu's name was called.

By the time the keys were handed over, the campus had broken into spontaneous chants, and phone cameras flashed across the arena.

Speaking during the event, MTN Youth Segment Manager, Femi Adesina, described the initiative as part of a wider effort to support young Nigerians.

Adesina said the organisation believes strongly in the Nigerian youth and is committed to walking with them and empowering them to be their best selves.

He added that MTN is a brand whose talk is backed by action.

He said: "We understand that education comes with pressure, so we want students to balance academics with social life.

"This engagement allows them to unwind while still connecting with our brand."

The campus invasion also created opportunities for student entrepreneurs, as 10 business owners received space to exhibit and sell products ranging from snacks to fashion items without any fees.

Students said the free stalls helped them reach a larger audience and gain confidence in their ventures.

Yakubu's win has quickly become the dominant conversation across faculties and hostel blocks.

For many students, it is proof that campus life still holds room for unexpected moments of joy and opportunity.

Her classmates described her as humble and hardworking and said the win could not have gone to a more deserving student.

Adesina said the GoMAD initiative had already visited universities in Abuja, Benin, Owerri and Abeokuta and continues to serve as a platform for music, gaming, skill development and digital innovation.

He said the organisation sees students, believes in them, and wants to be part of their journey.
