DAVISON TWP, MI - The Davison Township Board of Trustees is set to revisit plans for a proposed new township hall and police station during its Jan. 12 meeting, with members expected to decide how the project will move forward.
Township Supervisor Jim Slezak said there are currently two cost estimates tied to two potential locations for the project.
The higher estimate of $14.6 million applies to rebuilding on the township's existing site, Slezak said, while constructing a new facility on Davison Road carries an estimated cost of $11.3 million.
"The board will make a choice on how the township will proceed at the January 12 meeting," Slezak told MLive-The Flint Journal in an email.
The township first introduced plans for a new municipal complex in early 2025, though the proposal has seen no movement in recent months.
The project calls for a roughly 22,500-square-foot building with a basement that'd combine township offices and police operations.
Officials have pointed to persistent problems at the current facility, including structural wear, water leaks and pest issues, as justification for the project.
If the board opts to build on the Davison Road site, the facility would be constructed on roughly 40 acres purchased by the township in 2023 across from John's Pizzeria.
Township staff would remain in the current offices during construction and relocate once the new building is complete.
The existing building would be demolished, and the property sold, with proceeds applied toward bond costs.
The Davison Township Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the township offices, 1280 N. Irish Road.
