THORNBURY'S mayor praised a charity for its hard work during an awards ceremony.
Mayor of Thornbury, Helen Ball, visited Inspire, an arts-based charity based in Thornbury, to award certificates to children, honouring their achievements.
The event, held in November, was filmed by the BBC for Children in Need.
In a post on social media, Mayor Ball said: "As mayor, I was delighted to be invited to Inspire, an arts-based charity based in Thornbury, to present some certificates to children who had achieved success at the centre.
"It was lovely to meet the children and their parents and carers.
"There were high levels of excitement on Friday evening since the BBC was there filming as part of Children in Need.
"Later in the evening, one of the young people was performing in the Children in Need choir and everyone present was staying on for a 'watch party'.
"Everyone was very proud and I certainly was delighted that Inspire was being recognised for all its work in Thornbury and area.
