Kongra Star condemns insults and acts of disrespect towards Abdullah Öcalan and Pervin Buldan

"As women of Rojava, we declare: the freedom of our Leader is our own freedom. We do not accept insults against the Leader Abdullah Ocalan or our politicians. All friends and organizations should take action to expose these individuals," Kongra Star said.

In the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly, a lengthy debate ensued among all groups in response to the attacks by İYİ Party Deputy Group Leader Turhan Çömez aimed at discrediting TBMM Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan and Buldan's strong rebuttals.

Referring to the Kurdish MP Pervin Buldan's remarks about Öcalan during her interview with Erdal Er for Medya TV last weekend, Çömez insulted Buldan, saying, "Last week we learned that you also have a duty to deliver messages, to act as a messenger. You have no responsibility to deliver the messages of the despicable terrorist who slaughtered our people to Turkey."

Buldan responded, "I reject your words. I will never tolerate disrespect towards any person. I am doing my job, not as a messenger, but for the future of Turkey, for the peace of this country."

In a statement about the insults uttered by Çömez, Kongra Star, the umbrella organization of women in North-East Syria, said the following:

"As the Kongra Star, we have been closely following the recent insults and acts of disrespect towards the Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Indeed, at a time when all efforts and struggles are being waged on the basis of peace and democracy, and when the Leader Abdullah Öcalan persistently calls for the brotherhood of peoples, such attacks are both shameful and cowardly.

We would like to state clearly that the remarks made in parliament by Musavat Dervişoğlu and Turan Çömez, members of the İYİ Party, serve only to create confusion and division. As a result of such statements, we have seen today dirty insults directed against our Leader from the stands during the Georgia-Turkey football match.

We know very well that figures like Turan Çömez and Musavat Dervişoğlu fuel hatred among peoples and pave the way for such hostility. They are agents of provocation, not peace. In truth, these individuals benefit from war, from the killing of young people, from human suffering and crisis. That is why they do not want peace among peoples -- because peace would deprive them of their gain.

However, it is a fact recognized across the world that the Leader Abdullah Öcalan is today the person most dedicated to the peace and harmony of societies. Our Leader has long struggled for peace among the peoples of Turkey, standing against the poison of nationalism. For 27 years, under the harshest conditions of isolation, he has continued to develop the project of peace and democracy, striving only to prevent conflict between peoples. Therefore, the current attitudes being promoted are completely unacceptable. This is not a nationalist stance -- it is a calculated political tactic.

We know that the triangle of state-army-nation continues to deepen Turkish nationalism. This only fuels division, blind hatred, and anger between peoples. Those who pave the way for such dangers act, in essence, against their own country and people. They oppose the peace and democracy of peoples and draw their power from war.

In particular, the hateful rhetoric of the İYİ Party's deputy leader, Musavat Dervişoğlu, incites bloodshed, fuels conflict among peoples, and spreads fascism and hostility toward all communities.

Instead of such behavior, these individuals should meet with the leader Abdullah Öcalan and engage in genuine dialogue for a democratic future for Turkey. Yet rather than advancing such efforts, they choose to sabotage them -- and this cannot be accepted.

Let it be known that hostility towards our Leader is hostility towards all women and all peoples. As Kongra Star, we strongly condemn the attacks and insults directed at Pervin Buldan. All women's organizations should take a clear and vigilant stand in response.

As women of Rojava, we declare: the freedom of our Leader is our own freedom. We do not accept insults against the Leader Abdullah Öcalan or our politicians. All friends and organizations should take action to expose these individuals so that they can no longer spread such words with impunity."
