Scattered showers with a possibility of hail expected for Dublin City Marathon weekend

Showers are expected right across the country this bank holiday weekend, including Sunday, when over 22,000 runners will take to the streets of Dublin for the Dublin City Marathon.

Rain will develop in the west and north on Sunday morning, and will spread south-eastwards through the afternoon and evening, with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

This morning will see rain in many areas, but will gradually clear south-eastwards throughout the morning.

However, sunshine and showers will follow from the west, becoming heavier in Ulster this evening, with a possibility of hail.

Tonight, showers will mainly affect Connacht and Ulster early in the night and will spread south-eastwards across much of the country overnight.

Temperatures are expected to reach lows of 3 to 7 degrees.

On Friday morning, showers will affect many areas and will gradually clear to the south in the afternoon.

Polling day will also see some intervals of sunshine, with highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

Friday night will become mainly dry with clear spells, with some showers in western and northern coastal areas.

Saturday will start off mainly dry with showers in the west and north moving down over much of the country, some heavy, with a possibility of hail.

Temperatures are expected to range between 8 and 11 degrees.

Saturday night will be cold and mainly dry with clear spells, and lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees, coldest in Leinster.
