Maine's pizza scene has only continued to grow, with 20 new pizza places popping up since 2020.

You've got options like wood-fired, thin-crust, New York-style, Neapolitan-style, Sicilian-style, and more. Honestly, there's so much variety that whatever your taste buds enjoy, there's something for you.

Have you tried them all?

2020 was sadly the year of COVID-19, and opening a brand-new restaurant was certainly an uphill battle. As a result, it wasn't until 2021 that new pizza spots began to emerge again across the state.

From Portland to Bangor, Brunswick to Biddeford, pizzerias have emerged in the last five years, serving up their own brand of delicious food and creating new places to make lasting memories.

Some, like the second Pizzialo in Portland, Pizza Dome in Brewer, Nomad Pizza in Brunswick, and OTTO in Auburn, unfortunately, have already closed their doors, while others like Cargo Pizza and Off Track Pizza in Portland and Orrington Pizza in Orrington are still slinging pies today.

And there's obviously going to be new spots opening soon as well, like Fork in the Road in Portland, offering up pizza slices for a quick meal.

Let's take a look at 20 of the pizza places that have opened up in the last five years and are still going strong. Want to try and eat at all of them?

How many have you been to and enjoyed a slice?

While a good chunk of the new pizza places opened in 2023 and 2024 in the last five years, 2025 has already seen fresh spots in Cargo Pizza, Tomaso's Pizza and Burger Bar and ZA in Portland; Jason's New York Style Pizza in Topsham; and Lebanon House of Pizza in Lebanon.

Cargo Pizza was a mobile pizza truck that expanded to a brick-and-mortar location, and Jason's New York Style Pizza, which started in Bangor, has expanded to five locations.

ZA has even taken over the spot where the popular Slab used to be in Portland.
