Avelo Airlines to start service at Metro Airport with nonstop flights to Connecticut

Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is saying 'welcome aboard' to Avelo Airlines that plans to start service at the hub with a nonstop route to southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport.

According to airport officials, it is the only airline offering nonstop service between Detroit and southern Conn.

Beginning April 4, 2025, Avelo will operate this route twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays, utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, accepts the welcome here with open arms.

"Detroit, say hello to Avelo," Levy said. "We are proud to announce service at DTW and introduce a new era of convenient, affordable and industry-leading reliable travel to the Motor City. This service makes visiting Southern Connecticut, and everything the greater New England and New York regions have to offer, easier than ever. We also look forward to making Detroit's rich history, cultural resurgence, Motown music and world-famous art museums a fast and seamless journey for Connecticut travelers."

Wayne County Airport Authority CEO Chad Newton is celebrating the partnership as well.

"We're pleased to welcome Avelo Airlines, an additional low-cost option, to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Newton said. "This partnership is a great way to offer our customers the opportunity to travel to New Haven. We hope this seasonal route will attract new customers to our region as well."
