Pixar Animation Studios has reportedly scrapped a storyline addressing a transgender character's gender identity in its first television series.
The upcoming long-form series "Win or Lose" will still feature a transgender character but the creators have removed references to their gender identity in the dialogue, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Both outlets reported the animation giant only cutting a few lines of few lines of dialogue in the eight episode series.
"When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline," a Disney spokesperson told Variety and THR.
USA TODAY has reached out to Disney, Pixar's parent company, for comment.
"Win or Lose" is Pixar's first ever long-form television series debuting next year.
The eight episode show will follow a co-ed middle school softball team gearing up for a championship game.
The series' logline confirmed each episode will center on a different character, whether its an insecure player, a helicopter parent or a "lovesick umpire" all leading up to the big game.
Former "Saturday Night Live" star Will Forte will voice the team's coach in the series created by "Elemental" story artist Carrie Hobson and "Soul" story artist Michael Yates.
Pixar's "Win or Lose" series is set to premiere on Feb. 19, 2025 on Disney+.
