MOSCOW, Idaho - A family escaped a house fire early Sunday morning on Conestoga Street. The fire, which investigators believe started near the furnace, broke out at around 5:30 a.m.
Two cats did not survive the blaze. However, a dog was rescued and taken to a veterinarian for care.
The home was deemed a total loss due to the extensive damage.
Firefighters battled not only the flames but also cold temperatures and slick conditions. One fire truck slid through an intersection, crashing into a yard and hitting a small tree. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
