Man on the run 'chucks wig on floor' after 'beating toddler to death in bathtub' - The Mirror

A man suspected of beating a toddler to death and dumping the body in a bathtub has finally been apprehended after trying to hide in a wig.

Dioblis Williams, 25, had been wanted in connection with the death of his two-year-old's girlfriend son Jamir Jones, who was found unconscious in a bathtub in 2020.

The suspect was spotted on August 27 at around 8.30am after officials received a tip-off he would be in the area. Police officer Andrew Lewis then spotted two individuals walking on a pavement, one of whom "appeared to be wearing a wig."

"Officers observed the individual and came to the determination that the individual wearing the wig was indeed the male that the USMS and VFAS were intending to arrest," police in Framingham, Massachusetts, stated.

Officers chased Williams, who was caught on CCTV throwing the wig aside, before he was taken into custody. Officials with the U.S Marshals Service said the arrest was "a reminder that you can run, but you can't hide."

"Mr. Williams thought that he could evade arrest and accountability by hiding in Massachusetts. I hope that today's arrest brings us one step closer to justice for a young child whose life ended tragically. The USMS's expertise in fugitive apprehension is bar none, as evidenced by today's arrest," said acting US Marshal Kevin W. Neal.

The suspect was charged with being a fugitive from justice on a Massachusetts warrant, as well as murder on a warrant from Ohio, where the alleged crime took place.

Police had been searching for Williams since 2020 after the toddler was unresponsive in the bathtub. He had been there unsupervised and it was initially believed he drowned following an accident.

However, according to his autopsy report, he tragically died by homicide. The coroner's office said it was blunt force trauma to the abdomen. He also had bruises on his face, torso and neck. Williams' arrest five years after the alleged incident was greeted with happiness by Jamir's family.

"Hallelujah, thank the Lord, thank the Lord," great-grandmother Bernice Anderson said. "I've been praying for this for five years, five long years."

It comes after an evil dad "whose son was bothering him" punched his baby in the stomach so hard it caused his small intestine to perforate. Joseph Washington was sentenced to ten years in jail after he was convicted of first-degree assault on his son, according to police.

The horrific incident occurred on April 4, 2024, in Portland after the father agreed to watch the 20-month-old at his ex-girlfriend's house.
