LORETTO, Tenn. (WSMV) - A fire wreaked havoc on a property in Lawrence County on Saturday morning, according to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue (LCFR).
LCFR said they were dispatched to a structure fire just after 6 a.m. in the 300 block of Busby Road. Multiple callers reported a shop was fully engulfed in flames and endangering a home on the property.
An off-duty Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and cadet were traveling in the area when they saw the fire. They helped by waking up the people inside the nearby house and getting them to safety.
Firefighters arrived on scene and began working to extinguish the it.
They put it out, but LCFR said a large portion of the property -- including the shop, vehicles and a trailer -- were severely damaged or destroyed.
Multiple LCFR units across the county responded to the fire.
The Lawrence County Fire Investigator is working to determine what started the fire.
