Robert A Lewis, age 89, passed away Tuesday, May 13, at Jenkins Care Community. He was born January 5, 1936.
Bob lived his entire life in the Jackson area, where he served as a police officer and was elected to several terms on City Council. He worked at Mead Paper, where he retired after 35 years of service. Bob was an avid researcher of the history of Jackson County. He enjoyed golfing, cheering for the Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds. He was also Past Master of Trowel Lodge 132.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Avonell Hart Helm; and his wife, Suzanne. He is survived by children: Don (Diane) Lewis, Jeff (Michelle) Lewis and Lisa Lewis Boykin; grandchildren: Kyle (Jenni) Lewis, Kevin (Whitney) Lewis, Sara (Josh) Jones, Jessica Lewis, Eric Lewis (Chandler Fugate-Laus), Emily (Cody) Bratton, Zachary Boykin; and great-grandchildren: Jack Lewis, Hazel Jones, and Scarlett Jones.
The family would like to thank Jenkins Care Community Assisted Living for their kindness, care and support, and also National Church Residences Hospice for their kind care.
