Which transfer windows are still open - and who might still want to move?

The transfer deadline has passed for clubs in Europe's 'Big Five' leagues to sign new players, but they still have an opportunity over the next few weeks to clear squad and budget space with exits.

England's transfer window shut on Monday evening at the earlier time of 7pm, to give staff at football clubs a more normal working day. This is instead of the previous deadline of 11pm, which often resulted in some very late nights.

The window also closed on Monday night for clubs in Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga and the Bundesliga. That rules out any more incoming transfers for teams in those divisions, but players can still depart those leagues for other countries where the window remains open.

Here, The Athletic looks at the possible destinations for last-gasp moves and who might need them.

The Dutch transfer window does not close until 11.59pm on Tuesday, September 2, while Turkish Super Lig sides and Mexican clubs can also sign players until Friday, September 12.

Clubs in Portugal have until September 15 to finish their business, according to FIFA.

There is a much longer time to secure potentially lucrative moves to the Saudi Pro League. Teams in Saudi Arabia can make signings until Tuesday, September 23, again according to FIFA.

Not loads, but there were a few notable moves.

Angelo Gabriel and Daniel Podence left Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers, respectively, for Al Nassr and Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League. West Ham defender Kurt Zouma also completed a move to Saudi side Al Orobah on loan. David Datro Fofana was loaned to Turkish side Goztepe from Chelsea.

Several players on Dan Sheldon's 'unwanted' list have secured deals since his article was published, but plenty are still hunting for a move to give them a chance of playing before January.

Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia's loan move to Elche has fallen through. He needs to find another solution. Chelsea would want to find exits for Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling.

Newcastle United could let Harrison Ashby and Jamaal Lascelles go. Sunderland also want to offload Ian Poveda, Jay Matete, Abdoullah Ba and Nazariy Rusyn.
