Thoth travels the globe for Mardi Gras celebration of 'Bucket List' items

The Krewe of Thoth, "the biggest little krewe in Carnival," reveled at their 77th annual Carnival Saturday at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner with a tableau of "Thoth's Bucket List," an exploration of experiences found across the world.

Reigning as queen was Miss Mia Angele Gonzales, daughter of Mr. Craig G. Gonzales and Dr. Melissa Aldy. She wore a sheath gown of imported gold Rhodia silk, trimmed with gold lace and appointed with Austrian rhinestones appliques with rhinestone trim. Her collar was covered in gold lace and trimmed in Austrian rhinestones. Her mantel had an Egyptian motif. Her crown matched her scepter.

Maids in the court were Misses Evangeline Claire Barras, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ian C. Barras; Annalise Mary Gagliano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick J. Gagliano; Anna Dunn and Ellen Daly Grenrood, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Brian P. Grenrood; Emily Rene Heller, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Michael G. Heller Jr.; Sydney Ava Kremer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Damon P. Kremer; Drew Avery Laughlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Laughlin; Ainsley Jean Markey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jason J. Markey; Samantha Elizabeth Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terrell F. Thompson Sr.; and Amelia Mary Wahden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heath D. Wahden.

Maids wore gowns in accordance with the theme, personifying "Taking Part in the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain," "Taking a Voyage to Holland to See the Tulips in Bloom" "Participating in the Carnival Festivities in Venice, Italy," "Sitting in the Grandstand to Watch the Kentucky Derby," "Traveling to Norway to View the Northern Lights," "Rooting for Your Favorite Driver at the Indy 500," "Going Abroad to Safari in the Australian Outback," "Scuba Diving with the Sharks in the Great Barrier Reef," "Taking a Trip to the Orient to Stand on the Great Wall of China," and "Touring the Palace of Versailles While Vacationing in Paris." The dukes' whose attire matched.

Ladies-in-waiting were Misses Jenna Ann Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin W. Allen; Addison Grace Bayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher A. Bayer; Charlotte Rose Campise, daughter of Mr. Zachary J. Campise and stepdaughter of Mrs. Christina Gonzales Campise; Alyssa Clare Franatovich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dustin W. Franatovich; and Ellie Alexander Gerhold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elliot J. Gerhold.

Also serving in the court as ladies-in-waiting were Misses Aubrey Katherine Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua M. Hill; Olivia Marie Kruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sean J. Kruse; Demi Grace Powell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Powell; Makenna Faye Ruiz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chad E. Ruiz; Brynn Elizabeth Sabadie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chad N. Sabadie; Faith Bryan Stallings, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shawn B. Stallings; and Anna Claire Tubre, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael W. Tubre.

Junior maids were Misses Fern Francine Albritton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin D. Albritton; Thea Belle Durel, daughter of Col. and Mrs. Stephen L. Durel; Stella Lea Esteve, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris D. Esteve; Amelia Lauren Franatovich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Franatovich; Avery Remie Gonzales, stepdaughter of Mr. Zachary J. Campise and daughter of Mrs. Christina Gonzales Campise; Meghan Elizabeth Landreneau, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen W. Landreneau; Ella Elizabeth Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tyson E. Royal pages to the king were Masters Brody James Cookmeyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cory J. Cookmeyer; and Colin James Hedlund, son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott J. Hedlund. Pages to the queen were Masters Monroe Anthony Marchese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen A. Marchese; and Beckett Grayson Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rogers.

The captain wore a traditional style tunic and cape made of Italian silk and lamé duchesse satin of metallic gold. The tunic and cape featured a sunburst design adorning the neckline, tunic skirt and standing collar of the cape, created from Austrian crystals. It was also adorned with custom-designed and hand-sewn appliqués of silk lamé gold cord with Austrian crystals and rhinestones. His attire was completed with a traditional headpiece with white fantasia French plumes.

King Thoth LXXVII wore an imperial-styled tunic of imported gold Rhodia silk, trimmed in gold and featuring original rhinestone appliques matching that of the queen. His matching gold and white mantel featured the same design motif as that of the queen. His custom crown and scepter matched that of her majesty.

Officers wore purple Dupioni silk, accented in gold and adorned with Austrian rhinestones, with headdresses sporting purple plumes.

The ladies-in-waiting wore a full circle skirt with puffed sleeves and white lace over lamé and a solid gold belt with a bow in the back. Junior maids wore ivory A-line dresses with a sweetheart neckline trimmed with a gold belting and coordinating trim at the neck.

Music for the tableaux was provided by Carnaval under the direction of B.J. Perez.

Retired Army Lt. Col. Robert A. Brown served as general chairman of the ball, with Mr. Wayne M. Lee as vice-chairman. Chairmen were Messrs. Kenneth Beck, John A. Beninate II, Brad Bertucci, Philip Fricano Jr. and Dr. David M. Mulnick.
