Watch: Khloe Kardashian Reveals Why She Did Stem Cell Therapy
The Kardashians star detailed her experience traveling to Mexico to receive a muse stem cell treatment, noting that "no one likes a gate keeper."
"I work out 5 days a week so having something to help with recovery, inflammation and overall wellness, is next level," Khloe wrote in a post on Instagram Aug. 27. "Not to mention the bonus of anti-aging (maybe my favorite perk)."
Stem cells are cells which are able to self-renew and create specialized cells, and are currently used to treat blood cancer and other blood disorders, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Research into whether stem cells can treat or even cure other diseases remains ongoing.
Khloe, 41, added that undergoing muse stem cell treatment -- which has not yet been approved in the U.S. -- made her "so hopeful for the future."
"My dream is that one day treatments like this will be accessible and affordable to everyone, everywhere," she continued. "I know what a privilege this treatment is and I feel so incredibly blessed we were able to receive it and with such great care."
