REEDS SPRINGS, Mo. -- A man from Springfield has been criminally charged after allegedly making threats to shoot people in a newly-opened school for students with disabilities in Stone County.
According to online court dockets, Anthony Michael Lawrence, 37, is charged with first-degree terrorist threat in Stone County Circuit Court.
The probable cause statement says the incident occurred on Friday, Aug. 29, when Lawrence made numerous threats via text messages and phone calls toward the staff of the Menta Academy in Reeds Springs.
The statement says that in his threats, Lawrence stated the police need to be "on scene" when he arrives at the Academy and that he had 10 guns in the back of his car.
Lawrence said he would walk into the building and shoot employees if he didn't get a check, the statement says.
Lawrence is currently being held in the Stone County Jail with a $25,000 bond set.
If convicted, he faces up to 7 years in prison.
