Strong overnight storms swept through Anniston and surrounding areas, leaving roadways blocked by fallen trees and power lines while knocking out electricity to thousands of residents.
City officials reported multiple road closures due to storm damage, with major obstructions on Fairway Drive, 22nd Street and Legrand Avenue, Eglin Avenue and Pappy Dunn Boulevard, Castle Avenue and Wall Street, and Raemon Avenue. Several additional streets were impacted by smaller blockages, including Old Choccolocco Road, Cobb Avenue, Milligan Street, and Wilmer Avenue. Crews are actively working to clear debris and restore power.
