Furious First Footage From What Promises to Be the Greatest Action Thriller in Years Is Finally Unleashed

Furious First Footage From What Promises to Be the Greatest Action Thriller in Years Is Finally Unleashed

The first footage from what promises to be the greatest action thriller in decades has now been unleashed. Containing all the ingredients needed to bake the perfect action movie cake, including a cast of martial arts greats, a director known for blistering stunts, and a no-nonsense plot that takes modern action classic The Raid and Liam Neeson's Taken and smashes them together to create a powerful genre fist, the newly released clip (which you can check out below!) teases the fast and furious things to come.

Aptly titled The Furious, this action thriller follows a simple tradesman (Miao Xie) who must fight his way through a complex web of criminals in a frantic attempt to win back his kidnapped daughter by any means necessary.

Directed by action choreographer-turned-filmmaker Tanigaki Kenji (Raging Fire, Snake Eyes, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In), the action movie has also amassed a cast of actors and fighters with pitch-perfect action pedigree, including Miao Xie (My Father Is a Hero), Joe Taslim (The Raid, Mortal Kombat), Jeeja Yanin (Chocolate, Triple Threat), Yang Enyu (Eye for an Eye 2), Brian Le (The Brothers Sun), Joey Iwanaga (Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter Part I - The Final), and Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, The Raid 2). Alongside the clip, you can check out the official synopsis for The Furious below.

In a small Southeast Asian country, skilled martial artist Wang Wei's daughter Rainy is abducted by a child trafficking ring. Wang Wei sets out on a rampage, confronting both the corrupt police and the criminals, determined to rescue his kidnapped daughter. In the process, he encounters Navin, a journalist tirelessly trying to solve his wife's disappearance. Together, the two unleash their formidable combat skills, fighting their way through dangerous obstacles and manage to unravel crucial clues and successfully rescue Rainy and a group of innocent children, dismantling the notorious human trafficking syndicate and bringing justice to the exploited and vulnerable.

We Can't Hype up 'The Furious' Enough...

The first The Furious footage finds our main character (and surely the next great action hero), Wang Wei (Miao Xie), sprinting into action as he pursues the mysterious kidnappers. The Furious teases a dusty, scrappy thriller brimming with hard-hitting martial arts action that's sure to leap up many a "must-see" list.

While it has yet to be given a wide release, The Furious is all set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival Midnight Madness. Segment Programmer for the festival, Peter Kuplowsky, recently described the action outing as an "extravaganza" while hyping up the finale as "one of the most thrilling martial arts fights I've ever seen."

"This new film, The Furious, is a Pan-Asian action extravaganza. All I'm gonna say is that it builds with one-on-ones and eventually escalates and climaxes with a five-way fight that is one of the most thrilling martial arts fights I've ever seen since, I don't know, Dragon Forever with Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung. [It's] just like a total dream for anyone who's a fan or passionate about action."
