First Alert Forecast: Chilly through the weekend

First Alert Forecast: Chilly through the weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The cold air is going to stick around a little longer before a warm up next week.

After a below-freezing start this morning, temperatures this afternoon will only make it to the upper 30s to low 40s. The wind chill will make it feel several degrees colder than the actual air temperatures, so be sure to bundle up today. Another hard freeze is expected overnight with lows falling to the 20s again.

It will be another frigid start in the morning. Highs will only be a tad warmer in the low to mid 40s, but with much more sunshine.

As we head into next week, temperatures will begin warming up. Monday will be breezy and mild with temperatures in the mid 50s. We'll make it to the mid to upper 50s on Christmas Eve. Ironically, our high temperature will be 60º on Christmas.

With that warm-up, we will see some rain showers return to the Midstate. While I'm not expecting a wash-out by any means on Christmas Day, we could see a few stray showers in the area-- especially west and south of Nashville. The rain chance is 30%.

A few stray rain showers will be possible again Thursday and into Friday. Temperatures will remain mild in the low 60s with lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
