Thanks to some unknown reason that my local municipality chose to ignore for a whole day, my house spent an entire Sunday without electricity.
Luckily, this lack of electricity meant I got to whip out my Godox R1 Mini Creative light. An awesome little device that I use for all my picture taking and video shots on the go, to add that extra splash of colour or dynamic lighting effects... When I remember to take it out of my bag, that is.
After a bit of internet digging, and because I'm not really the selfish type, I thought I would share a couple Godox lights that are on special right now for any of you content creators out there to pick up.
If you're looking for the updated version of my Godoz R1, you probably want to check out the Litemons LED6R. It's a pocket-sized light that features a variety of RGB colour options, both warm and cold white light options (from 3200K to 6500K) and has a couple of creative effects, too.
It's great for on-the-go lighting, if you want to add some extra colour to photos, or a lighting effect to the backdrop of your videos. It's battery-powered and can run from 2 to 10 hours, depending on which light modes you have active and just how bright you make it.
It's extremely versatile with its various lighting modes, and an array of mounting options; from a cold-shoe screw to a magnetic back.
Plus, at around R500, it's certainly not going to hurt the bank account too much.
If you're looking for a portable light that could be used as your main light source in your photos and videos, instead of just something to add a little creative flair, then you should check out the Godox C30Bi.
This LED light panel still fits in your pocket, but provides a lot more oomph, with the ability to shine over 2200 lux. The bi-colour option allows for colour changes between 2800K and 6500K, for both warm and cold light variations. There is an RGB version of the C30 that'll set you back around R1,800, too.
The C30Bi provides constant bright light at 100% brightness for around 45 minutes before needing a recharge via its USB-C cable.
If you need something bright, portable, and awesome, this is the one for you.
If you're looking for something a bit more serious, but still with some major versatility, then you would want to check out the Godox LC500R Mini RGB-WW LED Light Stick.
It's got multiple lighting options, allowing you to choose from white light between 2500K and 8500K, RGB colour modes, and 15 predefined creative modes for that extra pop of cool.
With its included hand grip, it's perfect for those who are shooting video or taking photos on the move, and it has two attached barn doors, which help further direct the light for that extra touch of professionalism in your shots.
If you're taking photos in a stationary environment, the Light Stick can also be mounted and then controlled via Bluetooth controller, which can be purchased separately.
For under R3,000, this Light Stick is an affordable piece of equipment that will up your content creation game in a flash.
So, whether you're looking to enhance your content creation or just survive the dark nights of loadshedding-that-just-isn't-called-loadhsedding, check out these Godox lights. They're great quality, easy to use, and superbly versatile.
