Public Appointments Committee (PAC) of Parliament has approved Fostino Maele as the country's new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
This follows his appointment by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
The committee confirmed him at Parliament in Lilongwe after completing its vetting process, which involved assessing his qualifications and conducting interviews.
Speaking after the meeting, chairperson of the Public Appointments Committee, Felix Njawala, said the committee expects him to carry out his duties in accordance with the law.
In his remarks, Maele promised to serve the public with diligence and commitment.
PAC is a parliamentary committee responsible for vetting and recommending candidates appointed to key public offices.
