Ration Card e-KYC Will Now be Required Every 5 Years, Know the Online And Offline Methods - Times Bull

The Indian government has taken a significant step for ration card holders under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). It will now ensure that the benefits of free or subsidized rations reach only the rightful and eligible people. To this end, the government has made the e-KYC process mandatory for ration card holders. This step is aimed at preventing fake cards and duplicate beneficiaries.

Ration card e-KYC will have to be done every 5 years

According to the new rules, ration card e-KYC will now have to be done again every five years. Many people last did their e-KYC in 2013, meaning now is the time to update it. Under this new system, the government will be able to periodically update the identity of beneficiaries, preventing any discrepancies.

How to complete the e-KYC process from home

Now, the process of getting your ration card e-KYC done has become much easier. There's no need to visit a government office. Beneficiaries can complete it from home using a mobile app. To do this, first download the "Mera KYC" and "Aadhaar FaceRD" apps on your mobile. Open the app, enter your location, enter your Aadhaar number, and fill in the captcha. After OTP verification, Aadhaar-related information will appear on the screen. Then, select the "Face e-KYC" option and take a photo with the camera. Your e-KYC process will be completed upon submission.

How to check if e-KYC has been completed

Checking the status of e-KYC after it has been completed is also very easy. To do this, open the "Mera KYC" app again, enter your location, enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP. If "Status: Y" appears on your screen, then understand that e-KYC has been completed. If "Status: N" appears, it means the process is still incomplete and you will need to try again.

Offline Method of e-KYC

Those who are unable to complete e-KYC through their mobile or app can also complete the process offline. To do this, you need to visit the nearest ration shop or Common Service Center (CSC). You simply need to bring your Aadhaar card and ration card. The officials there will verify your documents and complete the e-KYC process.

Government's Objective

The main objective of this new system is to ensure that the benefits of the Food Security Scheme reach only those who are truly eligible. The government wants to ensure that no one can misuse the scheme. Regular e-KYC will keep the database updated and reduce the possibility of corruption or fraud.
