The nation is observing a one-day state mourning today following the death of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.
As part of the mourning, the national flag is being flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, educational institutions, public and private buildings, and Bangladesh missions abroad.
The namaz-e-janaza of Sharif Osman Hadi will be held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 2:00pm today.
Hadi died at Singapore General Hospital on Thursday night.
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus announced the state mourning in a televised address to the nation around 11:10pm the same night.
On December 12, Hadi suffered critical head injuries after being shot by assailants while campaigning in the capital's Purana Paltan area.
He was initially treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at Evercare Hospital before being airlifted to Singapore on December 15 for advanced medical treatment, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
