The power structure is well represented on the All-Metro Conference team, led by honorary captains Jett Thomalla of Millard South and Christian Jones of Omaha Westside.
But the nomination process looked beyond it in tabbing Omaha Benson's Cristobal Hernandez as the first-team punter.
The Bunnies have been in a rough stretch the past two years, not winning a game and ending their 2024 season with two weeks left because of low numbers.
Hernandez's numbers were bright amid the gloom. He averaged a Class A-best 41.2 yards on 11 punts, with a long of 61. He was third on his team for tackles and tied for the lead in sacks.
Benson is one of seven schools with players on the first team.
Thomalla is one of eight from Millard South, which won its first Class A title since 2009. Jones is one of five from Westside, which was in its record sixth consecutive Class A final.
Five from Omaha North, two from Millard North and Papillion-La Vista and one from Omaha Central round out the first team.
On the offensive unit are receivers Amarion Jackson, Isaac Jensen and Chase Loftin from Millard South; linemen Garin Maley of Papillion, Connor Cook of Omaha North, Connor Wane and Owen James of Westside and Carter Glab of Millard South; quarterback Thomalla; running backs Tay Tay Jenkins of Westside and Jaron Cannon of Omaha North and kicker Alexander Michaud of Millard North.
The defensive first team consists of linemen Tyson Terry of Omaha North, Ike Ackerman of Central, Logan Holtmeyer of Papillion and Adam Pugh of Millard South; linebackers Brandon Mooberry of Millard North, Max Clark of Omaha North, Teagan Urban of Millard South and Christian Jones; defensive backs Darion Jones of Omaha North, Keynan Cotton of Westside and DaShawn Prince of Millard South and Hernandez.
Half of the first team are juniors or, in the case of Isaac Jenkins, a sophomore, and five are from Millard South -- Jackson, Jensen, Glab, Thomalla and Prince. The others in the Class of 2026 are James, Cannon, Holtmeyer, Clark, Darion Jones and Hernandez.
Loftin (Florida State), Cook (Lindenwood), Terry, Mooberry and Christian Jones (Nebraska), Ackerman (Ohio) and Pugh (Air Force) are heading to FBS or FCS programs next year.
Postseason honor selections are based on nominations by coaches and observations by The World-Herald sports staff. All coaches were emailed nomination forms.
